Dr. Selva has been awarded a collaborative research grant from the Engineering Design and Systems Engineering program at NSF to develop a new methodology to design 3D printable polymeric metamaterials. We will study new ways to combine data from finite element simulations at various levels of fidelity with semantic information such as physical laws and expert heuristics with the goal of finding a feasible or optimal design faster. This is collaborative work with Dr. Silberstein, a mechanical engineer and materials science professor from Cornell University. Looking forward to starting the project!
