Gerard Morales is a 22-year-old undergraduate exchange student from Girona, Catalonia, Spain. He is currently in his last year of bachelor’s in Physics and Aerospace Engineering by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. During this last year, he is pursuing his final degree thesis at the SEAK lab, focusing on the application of deep reinforcement learning to Earth observation tasks. More specifically, he is training a transformer-architecture model to seek for high-performance replanning of Earth Observation Satellite (EOS) missions. He is also involved on another lab project which aims to provide a generative AI designer for aerospace electronic hardware.
His past experiences relate him to the automotive industry, by being a member of the Formula Student team UPC ecoRacing for 18 months as an aerodynamics engineer and marketing member. On the summer of 2023, he was an intern at Nostrum Biodiscovery while developing for a biophysics software project.
